[Common name] Piperacillin Sodium and Tazobactam Sodium for Injection

[Ingredients] The product is a kind of compound preparation, containing (1) 2.0g piperacillin sodium (calculated on the basis of piperacillin) and 0.25g tazobactam sodium (calculated on the basis of tazobactam) in 2.25g of the product; (2) containing 4.0g piperacillin sodium (calculated on the basis of piperacillin) and 0.5g tazobactam sodium (calculated on the basis of tazobactam) in 4.5g of the product; the ratio of piperacillin and tazobactam) is 8:1. Its excipient is sodium bicarbonate.

[Indication] Piperacillin/ tazobactam can be used to treat the general or local bacterial infection caused by determined or susceptible bacteria: lower respiratory tract infection, urinary tract infection (mixed infection or a single bacterial infection), intraperitoneal infection, skin and soft tissue infection, bacterial sepsis, gynecological infections, etc.

[Usage and Dosage] 1. Slow administration is necessary for the product through intravenous drip (administration time more than 20-30min) or intravenous injection (at least 3-5min). 2. Dosage for the adult and teenage aged 12 and above: Normal dosage for the adult and teenage with normal renal function shall be administered with 4.5g piperacillin/tazobactam every 8h. The total daily dosage shall depend on the infection severity and part, varying among once every 6h, 8h or 12h, increased from 2.25g to 4.5g piperacillin/tazobactam. The normal course of treatment should be 7-10d.
